Good bass, below average QC

Weighing about 3.5kg, the CV mustang bass is a very light short-scale bass that contains a pickup that growls differently than a J or P bass. The only issue is the lack of good QC, there were a considerable amount of scratches on the body and some stains on the neck. The neck plate is not very well aligned and the metal in the string through insertion in the back has some dents. Furthermore, the "Squier Mustang bass" alongside the serial number waterslides are scratched inside the lacquer.

The bass overall looks and plays amazing but in the small things, you can clearly see it is a bass built without much attention to detail, which should be expected in this price point, but none of the issues found affected the playability of the instrument which is the most important.

Great bass, but a little rough around the edges

Overall this is a great bass.
I have small hands, so all I really wanted was a short-scale bass to start learning, as the 34'' ones made rehearsals very hurtful very fast. In that regard, this bass delivers: smaller frets means easier to reach frets, which makes my life easier. And also it sounds really good.
But there is a problem with this bass, and it's because of its price. Yes, it's cheap, but that comes at a cost: no versatility, only 20 frets and it's very uncomfortable to reach the last two (I know it's a short-scale, but I've seen better), and single pickup with only volume and tone controls. With this price, you know what you get, but other basses have SO much more versatility than this one, for a similar price (looking at Yamaha and Cort).
If you want something like the real thing, but not the real thing, this is it. If the inconveniences listed above are too much of a nuisance to you, then maybe you should look for something else.

Great short scale, fun to play

Nice overall finish, nothing to say here.
I had better tuner but these do the job.

Buy some cooper tape when you buy the bass, it’s not shielded and really needs it. With a proper shield job, it’s dead silent.

The pickup deliver a pretty low output, i moved mine a little nearer the strings and i use a preamp pedal to boost the output.
I didn’t liked the stock strings but Labella make flats that are a perfect match for this bass. Sound is greatly improved with proper flats.

Now this thing is fun to play, the neck is super thin, smooth and fast.
The bass is light, it’s easy to take it for even just two minutes of practice.

You may eventually want to replace the pickup afterwards for something with more output but I’ll keep this one like this.

This bass is what you'd expect for this price.
Except for it being badly finished. The string bushings at the back were loose. The pickuard was allready scratched.

All the mounted hardware is of good quality but it'll need e proper set-up. The thrussrod works great. But the nut - action is too high.

!!! be aware, it is a short-scale bass with string-through body and bridge. The bridge does not allow you to go directly through. There are no holes for it. So finding proper length strings can be a chalange since long scale strings are too long but some short scale strings may no be long enough.
