djs/hardware Review: Hercules XPS 2.0 80 DJ Monitor

Not only for producers it's essential to hear what they do, but also is for DJ's. As a DJ it is essential to hear well if your mix in matching the feeling and the actual sound of the effect. Of course, it's possible to use studio speakers for DJ monitoring, but when you're just starting out the Hercules XPS 2.0 is perfect in its price-class.

The build quality

The speakers are made from MDF 9MM wood, with the result they have a classic and detailed look. They are also solid and can take a bump. The main-speaker has the inputs and power connection. With a different cable, they can be linked together. So you don't have to power them both.

The sound quality

The sound quality is impressive. The mid-low range is well developed to hear the finest details in a mix. Compared to speakers in other price-classes, the XPS 2.0 80 is doing well. When going louder in mixes, the sound is falling behind with the quality of professional studio speakers. But when you're starting out or for DJ'ing purposes its a GO! We also filtered low, mid and high frequencies and did some EQ tests, and were amazed at the clarity of the sound.

Incredible speakers for their price range. We would call it the perfect speakers for people that are just starting out or just want a DJ monitoring system. Hercules did an outstanding job in fabricating an excellent sounding and affordable speaker system.
