Lofelt is a startup from Berlin set up by Daniel Büttner. Through a successful Kickstarter campaign, they have put their first product on the market. The Basslet is a portable subwoofer that you wear as a watch. The goal of the Kickstarter was to raise € 50,000, after the end of the campaign it ended with a rounded amount of € 600,000. Because of this, we can expect a lot of great things from this company in the future.
How does it work?
The real club experience where you really feel the music through the speaker system often stays away when using normal headphones and earphones. The Basslet is worn as a watch and is connected to your device on which you play music. This connection is made by a small connector between your mobile and headphones for example.
Through the link, you can clearly feel the bass through your arm and body. Very interesting when 808 subs are used in a song.
How can you apply this as a musician?
We tested this while recording music. Our rapper discovered that it is much easier to keep rhythm with hip-hop beats. This is because you feel the kick and 808 basses. This is an extension of just hearing a beat.
In addition, you can use it excellently while producing music. The low tones of a song are difficult to estimate in bedroom studios. By working with the Basslet you get a good impression of the bass in a song. You finally feel them.
You ensure that the connector is between the cable of, for example, your phone and earbuds. Then you put the Basslet around your wrist. Here are two buttons with which you can determine the sensitivity.
Test it as a musician when you record music, mix music and get the right impression of the bass. The complete low spectrum from 10 to 250 Hz is feelable.
Better experience while making music.
No wireless version yet, you have to use the connector.
